Fraglets are painted with artist-quality acrylic paints and mediums, made in the US or in Europe.  All artist materials used conform to ATSM Standards, and are deemed non-hazardous to health. 

However, ingestion of any of the Fraglets® pieces is considered unsafe; although the magnetic strength of the pieces is much weaker than the rare-earth magnets referred to in the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSCmagneticSafety.pdf), ingestion may cause potential harm.  For this reason, Fraglets® are not considered suitable for young children *.  Care must also be taken with adults with cognitive impairment, who may inadvertently put them in their mouths.
